SIA DC09 validation planning

Plan an alarm reporting test using a fictional system. Specify evidence for message acceptance, supervision and monitoring response without generating a real alarm.

Offline planning only; normative message syntax requires the licensed SIA standard, and receiver acceptance is outside lab scope.

Verification and testing

Overview#

Lab class: Offline synthetic fixture and tabletop

Scope is an offline paper model built from invented records. Receiver, monitoring account, network, automation, and dispatch acceptance is a separate activity controlled by the monitoring centre.

Plan the fixture set#

Using a lawfully accessed ANSI/SIA DC09 2026 specification and receiver documentation, define synthetic valid and invalid fixtures for framing length/integrity, account/receiver identity, sequence, timestamp, encrypted/authenticated mode where applicable, content format, retry/acknowledgement and duplicate handling. Don't reproduce licensed normative tables in the KB.

Receiver questions#

  • What proves the message origin and account authorisation?
  • What transport/security mode is required and is insecure fallback disabled?
  • How are sequence, timestamp, replay, duplicate and delayed messages handled?
  • What does transport/application acknowledgement prove?
  • Which failures cause retry, alternate path, operator indication or supervised path alarm?
  • How is receiver to automation forwarding correlated and audited?

Evidence checklist#

  • Licensed standard edition and receiver documentation identified without reproducing protected tables
  • Synthetic identifiers and non routable topology recorded
  • Valid, malformed, duplicate, delayed, replayed, and missing acknowledgement cases mapped
  • Receiver, automation, operator, and dispatch boundaries kept distinct
  • Expected evidence and interpretation limits documented for every case
